Vancouver Cycle Loop Series - Route #1

This is the a series of posts each of which will describe cycle route starting and ending at my front door.

Steveston Loop - 52 km

Traffic free cycling - 95%

Left home 0900 hrs.  Returned 1300 hrs

This is an excellent ride that starts just west of Granville Island and follows the Arbutus multi-use corridor (ex-rail line) to the Arthur Laing bridge which is crossed into Richmond.  The bridge and the next bit to the No. 2 road bridge is not great cycling due to the steady traffic but it is all on a dedicated cycle lane.  Once over the second bridge you just pop down onto the dyke and follow this all the way to the mouth of the Fraser River and then south to the community of Steveston.

Retrace route home which happens to pass by the great Imperial Hobbies shop (a must stop for me)

Lovely Arbutus Corridor

It is June

A heavily loaded fishing boat returning to Steveston

False Creek and the tip of Granville Island - nearly home
