Camino Practice Walk - Capilano Pacific Trail
Nice walk with friendly group this past weekend - Capilano Pacific Trail from Ambleside Park to the Cleveland dam and back. Practiced getting lost and back on route. Pie stop wind up was nice.
Golden Ears Park Hike
As a teen just getting into hiking I would spend a lot of time exploring Golden Ears Park as it was close to our home.
This past weekend my brother joined me for a morning hike up the West Canyon, trail, cross Gold Creek on the new footbridge and back the East Canyon trail. Nice to spend time with my brother and revisit old familiar trails.

Practice Camino Walk - Fort Langley Fort to Fort
Another pleasant but moist walk with the Camino group. Thirteen hardy souls plus our dog Farley.
We walked from the current reconstructed Fort Langley site to the site of the original fort (1827) downstream plus a loop along the Houston trail just inland. The Fort Pub provided tasty post walk refreshments.

Stella Bread
A friend of mine from work is of Dutch extraction and for a special treat she will bake up a couple of loaves of a dense rye type bread.
Her name is Stella and the bread is delicious.
A main ingredient is Red River Cereal. It packs well so is great for trail snacks and we typically eat it open faced with a slice of cheese.
Here is the recipe (makes two loaves)
4 cups Red River cereal
4 cups flour
3 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 cup molasses
4 cups hot water
Mix mix ingredients then add hot (not boiling) water and molasses. Mix
Pour into two lightly greased loaf pans.
Bake at 250 degrees for 2.5 hours.
Enjoy (freezes well)
