Grand Canyon - Prep Day

After driving from Palm Spring to the Phoenix I picked up Ken and Dale at the airport.  We all then drove north to Tusayan (just outside the Grand Canyon Park) where Ken had booked us into a hotel for two nights.

The next day we went into the park (bought seven day pass) and travel east to the Lypan Point Lookout to check the trail head for our hike the next day.  We had learned there is the potential for icy conditions (micro spikes required) but this was not the case and the trail looked fine.

Afterwards we drove back to Grand Canyon Village where we circled around until finding a parking spot.  Very busy. Wandered the rim trail and poked about the tourist shops before grabbing a cafeteria lunch.  A very pleasant ranger assisted us in the back country office for a trail and water updates. Bought a great topographic map there. Returned to our hotel in Tusayan for the night.
